F1 Visa Interview experience of Animesh Kumar at Hyderabad Consulate on 7-7-2014

VO rejected one guy 2 places before me after questioning him a lot which scared me. He gave a 221g to the guy in front of me who had an experience of 8 years and was working for SIEMENS. It scared me and my friend standing behind like hell.

My turn came and he signalled me to come forward.

VO : Hey Animesh!! Good morning. How are you?

Me : (Trying to pass my passport even though he didn't ask and trying to arrange the I20, SEVIS and DS160 confirmation I had in hand and I suddenly realized that I was asked a question after around 5s) I am good Sir. How are you?

VO : (Didn't hear me I guess and started seeing the monitor) Can I have your passport please?

He saw the I20 in my hand.

VO : And i will need your I20 too.

Me : *Passed"

VO : (Looking into my I20) Ohh SUNY Buffalo!!! Excellent!!!

Me : *Me confused - Excellent Surprised Surprised But it made me Super Happy*

VO : (Reads from my I20. Computer and Information Science) So Animesh what was your undergraduation in?

Me : Computer Science and Engineering Sir.

VO : Computer Science. Hmm. And when did you graduate?

Me : 2010 Sir.

VO : Any Backlogs?

Me : None at all Sir.

VO : What was your final grades or percentage?

Me : 71.3% with distinction sir.(I was speaking far from mike and he heard something else)

VO : 75.3. Nice. So what are you doing since then?

Me : Sir I have been working for SAP Labs India for past 4 years.

VO : What is your Salary?

Me : Annual Package is 8.28 Lakhs Sir

VO : Wow. You get a very nice package. Why are you going back to school then?

Me : (Good for me that he likes it) Sir, It will help me advance in my career.. ummm.... (I was stammering and thank god he cut me off. I was frustrated with myself. I had prepared for only two questions and this was one of them and still i was not able to answer it)

VO : What all admits do you have Animesh?

Me : State Univesrity of New York at Buffalo, Indiana University Bloomington, Northeasthern University , Syracuse University ( He cut me)

VO : You have all brilliant Admits. Why SUNY Buffalo then?

Me : Sir, this university offers me the best coursework in my field of interest which is databases and information systems.

VO : Databases haan. hmm (Started Typing)

Me : (Started blabbering again) Sir, I get to choose various courses like Information Retrieval in which we learn about text based search engines and by the end of the course will end up making a search engine of our own and then courses like Data Integration, Data Intensive Computing. (I was just talking and he was not interested in it. He was typing something. Maybe the things I had said before).

VO : Very well then. I will keep your passport and you may take your I20.

Me : *Blank. I had forgotten that keeping the passport means visa is approved. Stood there for 10s blank.*

VO : Your Visa is Approved Animesh. You may go now. Study well!!!!
