Counter - 11
I wished I got counter number 16. I heard it was a very lenient counter.
Visa Officer was a middle aged US woman with so serious look. Rejected one F1 Visa and accepted another F1 Visa just before me.
Then she went out for 5 minutes. I was watching others in next counter getting their Visas approved. I was still waiting there. I was slowly getting irritated and tensed at the same time. She came back then and called me to come front.
VO: Good morning. How are you doing?
Me: Good morning ma'am. I am doing great. How are you doing? (with a big smile)
VO: (VO didn't reply for that and asked seriously...) Pass me your Passport and I-20.
Me: Sure (passed Passport and I-20)
VO: Which year did you pass out?
Me: 2014
VO: What's your undergraduate percentage?
Me: My CGPA is xxxxx
VO: GRE?
ME: (told)
VO: What does your father do?
Me: (told)
VO: OK man. Your Visa is approved! Congrats. (still with a serious face)
Me: (I was in shock for almost 10 seconds and stood numb there. I was in confusion whether I got my Visa approved or not.)
VO: Why are you waiting? Your Visa is approved you can leave now... (finally she smiled now)
Me: Thank you so much ma'am! You made my day...!
VO: Have a nice stay in US. (And then she called the next person.)
She hardly asked me four simple questions. I felt really lucky today.
Gun shot rule: Always smile and answer confidently, no matter how much tensed you feel.
