Token no - B144

Counter - 20

Reached consulate at 7:45AM waited in the long queue for a longer time. I entered inside by 8:30AM.

My token no was B144, waited for my number and my token no. flashed in counter 20. In nearby counter 21, American guy was approving everyone but in my counter, before me one fellow was arguing with the VO and he got rejected with 214(b) blue form. He asked him what he had changed from his previous interview. He said that he didn't change anything and it's his 5th attempt. When he got rejected, he argued.

Now my turn . VO is an American officer aged around 30-40.

Interview time: 2 minutes

VO: (Waved and asked me to come forward)

Me: Good morning sir. How are you? (with big smile)

VO: Good Morning. I am fine. How are you?

Me: I am fine sir.

VO: Please pass me your I-20.

Me: (Gave him the I-20 form)

VO: Why do you want to go to US?

Me: To pursue my Masters in Information System

VO: Why US especially?

Me: US has wide range scope for research faculty and it has specialization for my area of interest.

VO: Where did you do your undergraduation?

Me: I did my undergraduation in Anna University, Chennai.

VO: Which year did you pass out?

Me: 2013

VO: After that what were you doing?

Me: I worked in my dad's company as a trainee.

VO: Whats your dad doing?

Me: (told)

VO: Your undergrad score?

Me: 60%

VO: Your backlogs?

Me: 18 sir

VO: Why don't you gain some experience here before going to US?

Me: No sir. I want to gain international experience in US and then I want to come back to India and work with my dad with the international experience I gained.

VO: How much amount you have in your bank?

Me: (told)

VO: (Took the blue form and said...) Sorry man I can't approve your Visa this time. Try reapplying.

Me: Thank you sir. Have a nice day.

VO: You too have a nice day.

My parents were fully hoping that Visa would be approved but after saying that it is rejected they became crest fallen. We picked an auto to reach our place. There the auto man consoled us "Don't be sad. You will get it next time."

MISTAKES I DID

  1. Before interview, I thought I should smile all the time while answering the VO, but only while saying good morning I smiled. After that I missed to keep a smile in my face.
  2. I stammered a bit which lowered my confidence level a bit in front of VO. I prepared few answers, may be that's the reason why I suddenly stammered.
