F1 Visa Interview experience of Praharsha Harsh at Mumbai Consulate on 10-11-2014

Counter - 32 (Cool Guy)

University - NPU (Fremont, California)

Major - MS in CS

Entered the consulate by 9:40 AM and waited for an hour. Came out by 11:15 AM. I took Pawan Kalyan and Mahesh Babu as my inspiration. While standing in the line, I keep on rewinding dialogues of Businessman movie (Nee kante thopu evadu ledikkada) & Pawan Kalyan's Balu movie (gundranga thirigede "bhumi", kalede "nippu". poraadevade "manishi"). It gave me courage and I became cool and started smiling with this feeling (Visa inka manade).

I was well prepared and made myself ready to face it.

VO called me to come front by hand signal I went then here the conversation starts.

Me: Good morning sir, how are you doing?

VO: I am doing good, Pass me your documents

Me: Sure sir ( gave my I-20 and SEVIS fee receipt )

VO: Thank you man (He's cool and smiling )

Me: You are welcome sir! ( with a huge smile )

VO: ( He saw my I-20 and started typing something and asked... ) What's your highest qualification?

Me: Bachelors of Engineering in CS.

VO: Okay. Did you work for any company?

Me: No sir. I'm just 2014 passed out.

VO: Fine. Whats your B.E. percentage?

Me: My overall CGPA is 6.6 on scale 10

VO: How you gonna pay your fee?

Me: My parents are my sponsors sir. My mother and father are working for state government as lecturers. Annual income of my father is ₹ 9 lakhs and annual income of my mother is ₹ 8 lakhs. Annual income of my family is 17 lakhs and my parents have a savings of ₹ 34 lakhs to fund my education and fixed assets of ₹ 3 crores.

VO: So you are from education background! Cool, by the way, what are the subjects your parents will teach?

Me: Mathematics sir.

VO: What about your mother?

Me: Mathematics sir.

VO: Oh nice! So, I guess you are gem in Mathematics, right?

Me: No sir! I like Computer Science (and smiling at him) (Mathematics uh...Devudaaaa ...idi na feeling )

VO: ( Started laughing and typing something and said.... ) Okay young man, I'm approving your VISA. Have a safe stay in California!

Me: Thank you so much sir! You made my day.

VO: Enjoy well. ( smiling )

I ran away from that counter and tears rolled out. My dad was waiting outside the consulate. I shouted... "Dad, my Visa approved" and started jumping in front of the consulate.

I saw many students who came for Visa interview with NPU. 3 of them got their Visa rejected and 6 of them got their Visa approved. My suggestion to you is... don't panic and try to be cool and speak with confidence and don't forget to smile at VO. VISA is yours!
