First attempt

VO: Come forward

Me: Good Morning sir.

VO: (no response) Give your Passport

VO: Which university?

Me: TAMUK

VO: Which course?

Me: MS in Industrial Management

VO: Any backlogs?

Me: Yes sir, 36

VO: Are you sure, 36 backlogs? (VO has thrown Passport and pen on table)

Me: Yes sir, I have 36 backlogs

VO: Why man, what happen?

Me: Sir I was stubborn that time. I did my entire schooling in residential. This time I am in a government university where I don't have any restrictions, so until 3rd year, I have no idea on what repeated mistakes I am doing. But in final year I cleared 20 subjects at a time.

VO: Okay, any backlogs in 4th year?

Me: Yes sir, 1

VO: Why man? You just said you studied well in 4th year?

Me: Sir, since I have loop holes in my technical skills I failed in one subject. But in immediate next attempt I cleared it with 70%. Sir, what I want to conclude is

  • I have 36 backlogs but I didn't run away. I cleared them all
  • In final year, I cleared 20 subjects with minimum 65% in every subject
  • Since then, I am working as project engineer with a public limited company and my work is associated with reputed companies like TATA, Reliance, Halliburton (US company), NCI Group (US company), L&T, etc.,.
  • I receive decent package of xxxxx lakhs

So, I consider myself as prospective student for MS in US

VO: Where do you work?

Me: (told)

VO: What's your job responsibilities?

Me: (told)

VO: Hmmm...! What does your father do?

Me: He is a government employee from last 27 years.

VO: (&^$#$*())#!)+&$!#&(

Me: Pardon sir?

VO: "Babu neeku Visa isthunna vellu" (he said in American Telugu) Your Visa is approved!

Me: Thanks sir, you made my day!

VO: (with great energy) You also made my day to give Visa with 36 backlogs. You are going to America. Study hard, get your degree. (Except Passport he didn't ask any document including I-20.)

Golden rule: Don't lie, be confident, prepare well!
